Dry Magnetic Roller

Permanent Magnetic Roller · φ320–630mm · 20-80 T/H

Permanent magnetic roller for dry separation, used with belt conveyors. Widely used for dry waste rock removal and ore sorting in magnetite mines, iron removal in grain processing and cement/building materials, and metal recovery in metallurgy. High magnetic field, low cost, long life, easy installation and operation with obvious benefits.

Dry Magnetic Roller

Product OverviewProduct Overview

The Dry Magnetic Roller is a permanent magnetic roller-type dry magnetic separator, typically installed as the head pulley (drive pulley) of a belt conveyor. Using the strong magnetic field generated by built-in high-performance permanent magnets, when material is conveyed by belt to the roller and discharged, magnetic material is adsorbed on the belt surface and continues with the roller into the concentrate hopper, while non-magnetic material is discharged normally at the roller end. 5 models cover roller diameters of φ320-630mm, belt widthsCompatible B500/B650, capacity 20-80 t/h, processing size 10-50mm, suitable for dry pre-selection waste removal of lump magnetite and iron removal from non-magnetic materials.

Working PrincipleWorking Principle

1

Material Spreading & Conveying

Material (ore/grain/building materials) is evenly spread on the belt by the belt conveyor and conveyed forward. The dry magnetic roller is installed at the head of the belt conveyor, replacing the ordinary head pulley, driving the belt operation.

2

Magnetic Adsorption & Separation

When material reaches the magnetic roller head, it begins to be discharged. Magnetic ore particles are attracted by the strong magnetic field force from the permanent magnet system inside the roller, adsorbed on the belt surface, and continue moving downward with the roller rotation rather than being thrown off by inertia.

3

Two-Way Ore Collection

Magnetic material is carried by the belt to the bottom of the roller where the magnetic field weakens, naturally falling off into the concentrate hopper. Non-magnetic material is normally thrown off at the roller top into the tailings hopper, completing dry magnetic separation — no washing water, no additional power (using the existing belt conveyor drive).

Product FeaturesProduct Features

High Magnetic Field, Good Separation

Rare earth NdFeB permanent magnet composite system, with peak magnetic flux density on the roller surface reaching over 6000 GS. Large magnetic field penetration depth, effectivelyAdsorption 10-50mm lump magnetite ore, with dry separation waste rejection rate reaching 15%-30%.

Plug & Play, No Additional Power

Directly replaces the existing belt conveyor head pulley, using the original conveyor motor drive without adding any power consumption. Installation only requires 2-4 hours of downtime, no civil works or piping modifications needed.

Water-Free Dry Separation, Eco-Friendly

Pure dry magnetic separation, no water consumption, no chemical additives, no tailings pond required. Especially suitable for pre-selection in magnetite mines in arid, water-scarce regions, significantly reducing subsequent grinding and wet separation costs.

Multi-Industry Application

Not only for mine waste removal and ore sorting, but also as in-line iron removal equipment for grain processing (removing nails and iron filings), cement and building materials (raw material iron removal), and metallurgical recovery (steel slag iron recovery).

Rugged & Durable, Maintenance-Free Magnet System

Permanent magnet system does not demagnetize, with a design magnetic life of over 10 years. Fully sealed structure is dust-proof and waterproof; stainless steel roller is corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant. Daily maintenance only requires regularInspect of bearing lubrication and seal condition.

Low Cost, Obvious Benefits

The equipment price is far lower than large wet magnetic separators. Installed as pre-selection equipment after coarse or medium crushing, it can reject 15-30% of waste rock in advance, reducing subsequent grinding volume, with significant comprehensive energy-saving benefits.

Application FieldsApplication Fields

Dry Pre-Selection Waste Removal in Magnetite Mines

Installed after coarse or medium crushing of magnetite and before grinding, the dry magnetic roller is configured as the belt head pulley toAdvance reject mixed-in surrounding rock and waste (10-50mm), reducing grinding feed by 15%-30%, significantlyReduce grinding energy and steel consumption.

Iron Removal in Cement & Building Materials

Installed on the conveyor belt for cement raw materials (limestone, clay, iron powder), the dry magnetic roller removes harmful iron debris such as iron blocks, shovel teeth, and bolts online, protecting downstream crushers, vertical mills, and other equipment from iron damage.

Iron Removal in Grain Processing

Soybeans, corn, wheat, and other grains pass through the belt conveyor with magnetic roller before processing to remove metal foreign objects such as iron nails and wire mixed in during harvesting and transport, ensuring food processing safety and grinding equipment operation safety.

Metal Recovery in Metallurgy

Iron and steel particles in steel slag, smelting slag, and foundry waste sand can be recovered dry through the dry magnetic roller. Ferrous metals in crushed waste home appliance materials can also be sorted by the magnetic roller, achieving resource reuse.

Selection AdviceSelection Advice

  1. Match Belt Width First: B500/B650 in the model number indicates belt width (mm). For existing B500 belts, choose the B500 series; for B650 belts, choose the B650 series. For wider belts such as B800 or B1000, custom roller lengths are available.
  2. Select Roller Diameter by Capacity: Low capacity (≤20 t/h) choose Ø320-400mm; medium capacity (30-50 t/h) choose Ø500mm; high capacity (60-80 t/h) choose Ø630mm. Larger roller diameter gives larger magnetic wrap angle, longer separation zone, higher capacity and recovery rate.
  3. Proper Splitter Plate Setting: Install an adjustable splitter plate below the magnetic roller to physically separate concentrate and tailings. By adjusting the plate position, you can flexibly balance concentrate grade and recovery rate — plate close to roller (higher grade), plate away from roller (higher recovery).
  4. Multi-Stage Series Waste Removal: For low-grade lean magnetite, recommend installing one dry magnetic roller after coarse crushing and another after medium crushing. After coarse crushing, remove large waste rock (50-30mm); after medium crushing, remove medium waste rock (30-10mm). Two-stage waste rejection can increase the feed ore grade by 5-10 percentage points.
