The Flotation Machine is a mechanical device that accomplishes the flotation process. In the flotation machine, chemically treated pulp is agitated and aerated, causing certain mineral particles to selectively attach to air bubbles, float to the pulp surface, and be scraped off as froth product (concentrate), while the remainder stays in the pulp (tailings), achieving mineral separation. This series covers four types of mechanical agitation flotation machines: XJ (A-type), XJZ (improved type), SF, and JJF, with effective volumes from 0.13-20 m³, suitable for large, medium, and small beneficiation plants.

Chemical Conditioning

Flotation reagents such as collectors, frothers, and modifiers are added to the pulp, making the target mineral surface hydrophobic and the gangue mineral surface hydrophilic, creating conditions for subsequent bubble attachment.

Aeration & Agitation

The impeller rotates at high speed, creating negative pressure that draws in air. Air is sheared into fine bubbles (diameter 0.5-2mm) dispersed in the pulp. Simultaneously, agitation ensures thorough contact between reagents and minerals.

Bubble Mineralization

Hydrophobic mineral particles collide with and attach to bubble surfaces, forming mineralized bubbles. The bubbles carry mineral particles upward to the pulp surface under buoyancy.

Froth Scraping & Collection

Mineralized bubbles rise to the surface forming a froth layer. The scraper rotates to scrape off the froth as concentrate. Hydrophilic gangue minerals remain in the pulp and are discharged through the tailings outlet.

XJ Type (A-Type)

Classic mechanical agitation self-aspirating flotation machine with integrated impeller agitation and aeration. Simple and reliable structure. Suitable for small to medium beneficiation plants, sulfide ore roughing/scavenging.

XJZ Type (Improved Type)

Optimized impeller structure and cell design based on XJ. Dual-cone impeller enhances pulp circulation. Better aeration uniformity with about 15% power reduction.

SF Type

Backward-inclined double-sided blade impeller with strong self-aspiration of air and pulp. Stable pulp level with minimal turbulence. Capacity covers 0.37-20 m³, suitable for large-scale beneficiation.

JJF Type

Deep cell design with stable pulp level and thick froth layer, fast flotation speed. Suitable for coarse and difficult-to-float minerals. Can form a combined unit with the SF type.

Self-Aspirated Air, No Air Source Needed

The high-speed rotating impeller self-aspirates air, no need for additional blowers or compressed air systems. Reduces investment cost and pipeline maintenance, suitable for beneficiation plants with limited site conditions.

Wear-Resistant & Long-Life Design

Non-Ferrous Metal Flotation

Flotation recovery of sulfide ores including copper, lead, zinc, nickel, molybdenum, antimony. Classic XJ/SF configuration with roughing-cleaning-scavenging three-stage closed circuit, recovery rate up to 90% or more.

Precious Metal Extraction

Gold and silver ore flotation enrichment. JJF type deep cellFavorable coarse gold recovery, reducing over-grinding loss. Both gold-bearing sulfide ores and quartz vein gold can be effectively floated.

Non-Metal Mineral Purification

Selection AdviceSelection Advice

  1. Select Series by Mineral Type & Scale: Small to medium plants (<1000 t/d), recommend XJ/XJZ type for cost-effectiveness. Large to medium plants (1000-10000 t/d), recommend SF/JJF type for high capacity and fast flotation speed.
  2. XJ vs XJZ: For new projects,Priority choose XJZ improved type. The dual-cone impeller provides better pulp circulation with about 15% energy reduction, and optimized cell design reduces dead zones.
  3. SF vs JJF Combination: Use SF type for suction cells (strong pulp self-aspiration), JJF type for direct-flow cells (stable level, thick froth). Combined unit flotation efficiency is 5-10% higher than single model alone.
  4. Cell Count Determination: Based on flotation time determined by laboratory tests (roughing typically 3-5 cells, cleaning 2-3 cells, scavenging 4-6 cells) and effective volume per cell, calculate total cells. Reserve 1-2 cells as margin in actual selection.
